What To Expect When You Date An Aquarius

GOOD THINGS: always entertaining combined with a dose of unpredictable, you will be kept amused and on your toes; your cup of witty banter runneth over…daily; they will get you involved in humanitarian/social rights and causes, thereby making you a better person by association; they won’t require you to talk about anything as uncomfortable as “emotions”; born on the frisky side, the sex should be fairly consistent and fun; they are always up for an adventure, so your passport should get a lot of new stamps on it!; your fashion will improve and become more “current”; you never need to say anything bad in public ever again—your Aquarius will say it for you as part of their need to constantly speak their mind, for better or for worse; boring and routine isn’t in their vocabulary, so if it is in yours, you can effectively strike those off your life list forever; passionate about their beliefs, their energy can be captivating and intense; independent and head strong, they won’t require a lot out of you, including your personal time; apt to be intelligent and intellectually curious, they are constantly learning new things, and consequently, teaching YOU new things; if humor makes you live longer, your Aquarius may be your personal fountain of youth; the dance floor will never be empty if they are invited to your party; living on the edge can be their life motto as they are drawn to dangerous situations—including any form of intense physical outdoor activity—so get your hiking gear ready and make sure your bungee cord is strapped on tight; lucky with money, they tend to eventually find their stride and make a financial success out of themselves, despite initial setbacks; charming and charismatic, you just can’t help wanting to blindly follow them.

BAD THINGS: get used to saying “I am sorry” quite frequently, because they won’t admit to doing anything wrong, even if they are literally caught with their hand in the cookie jar (or down someone else’s pants); apt to be highly critical and judgmental, they find it hard to empathize with others or see someone else’s point of view (even if they say they do); arguing is a task in futility because they can’t take what they dish out, so they shut down all communication and refuse to compromise; they don’t like being told what to do, or being told they have done something wrong, so while they continue on with their crazy ways, you are left stressing out over their actions; extremely dogmatic in their beliefs, they can be hard to debate with because it is their way or the high way (I am looking at you Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and Ronald Reagan); the men are emotionally aloof and the women tend to be emotionally dependent, either way, you are in for some interesting relationship bumps along the  road; prone to depression, bipolar personality disorders, and high anxiety, they can be quite the rollercoaster of emotions to handle; while they can hit the nail on the head with their insights, the delivery of their opinion can raise a few hackles and create controversy among your friends and family; they seem to not learn from their mistakes, and are quite “happy” to live that way unless they finally find some sort of spiritual enlightenment to help get them out of their own way; often travelling and incapable of sitting still, they can miss out on important things on the home front, like raising their children; they love to do things for the shock value of it, just to create a stir, or stir the pot—this can be good or bad, but typically, with an Aquarius, it falls under the bad.

DATE THEM IF YOU: need a certain amount of unpredictability in your life; thrive on witty banter and intellectual stimulation; want an independent lifestyle and a relationship that supports that; are willing to try new things all the time; love to laugh; love to have sex on a regular basis; don’t mind dating Eve and all her various faces (or Adam, for you women out there!); need more of a backbone and are willing to let your Aquarius speak up on your behalf; want to get involved in mass scale projects regarding human rights or animal conservation; like outdoor adventures and enjoy the thrill of “dangerous” activities (insert any intense sport here, flying planes or speed racing included); aren’t a sensitive person and can take criticism (and sarcasm) well; are politically engaged and aware (as most Aquarians have strong opinions on politics); can’t stand boredom or routine; love to dance; don’t like discussing emotions or getting sentimental; need someone in your life who keeps you on your toes and constantly guessing.

ADDITIONAL: Aquarians are like a jack-in-the-box: they pop up with something wild to say, think, or do, and it is up to you whether you see this as highly entertaining, or straight from your worst nightmare (with the creepy circus music playing in the background…yeah, you know that dream).  On the plus side, their timing is unpredictable and the room will never be the same once they have entered it.  They are fun, funny, charismatic, and engaging. Just what will they say next?  After all, Ronald Reagan’s speeches made him one of the most popular presidents in American history, and Glenn Beck, love him or hate him, is one of the most watched/listened to commentators in politics today.  I digress from discussing Sarah Palin, or Dick Cheny, at this moment.  And then there is Bill Maher, who recently said on his show Real Time “F**k those who don’t get the joke.”  That should be an Aquarian motto.  The point is, they are all controversial, they speak their minds (accuracy on facts not necessary), and they make no apologies for who they are.  Confidence or insanity?  Your choice.

But while there are certainly a lot of controversial Aquarians out there, it must not be forgotten that there are a lot of inspirational ones as well.  It can’t be a coincidence that the two reigning queens of daytime are Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey, both Aquarians, and both of whom share a birthday only days apart.  Their humor and ability to engage in conversation with people from all walks of life make them a force to be reckoned with.  They can seemingly empathize and care about everyone on God’s green Earth when they want to.  They give back to their communities, help the underdog, and make you laugh and cry in equal measure.  Who doesn’t love Oprah or Ellen?  They don’t even need a last name anymore, that’s how well you know and love them.

As with our darling daytime hosts, you will often find an Aquarius running a social charity, humanitarian organization, or volunteer group.  Many are involved in social work, political non-profits, and counseling.  They are driven by an urge to help humanity improve itself on a large scale.  Once determined to succeed, they won’t back down, despite frequent failure along the road.  This makes them someone to be admired, whether or not you love or hate them, with an intensity that can surprise you.

They like calling the shots, and they don’t sugar coat what they think.  You can take it or leave it, but the fact remains they won’t change who they are for anyone but themselves.  They have a very distinct sense of what they think is right or wrong, just and unjust, and very little can make them waiver once their opinion has been formed.  As such, they can be considered dogmatic or moralistic, or sometimes, just downright overbearing.  But that is part of their charm…should you choose to accept it.

Their humor is second to none, and their ability to enjoy life and its many adventures is unparalleled.  Freedom from restraint is their number one motto.  Or, as Frank Sinatra said, they like to do things “my way.”
