Long Island, NY – For years, family man Todd Lipshaw denied to himself that he was “even remotely” attracted to his 17 year old daughter’s friends, yet he often caught himself staring longingly – some would say creepily – at them from afar. Yesterday, at a joint press conference, he told reporters what has been repressed for years: he has “lusty thoughts” about several of her best friends and teammates.
“I know it’s wrong,” he said in an emotional five minute speech. “But I just — can’t help it.”
Married men’s attraction to their daughters’ friends is a common yet vastly under-reported condition, according to experts. Indeed, many believe it to be more prevalent than that rich tradition of husbands being attracted to their wives’ friends.
“It’s safe to say that close to 80% of all fathers of teenage daughters are attracted to their friends in some way – but barely 5% actually admit it for fear of feeling like a creep,” said Dr. Thomas Main of Harvard. “The truth is, it’s a perfectly normal sensation.”
Mr. Lipshaw’s admittance seemed to have a ripple effect, indicating a movement might be afoot: an hour after the conference, the Facebook page “Fathers For Daughters’ Hot Friends” was created. As of press time, it had 4,000 fans and counting.
